From Deconstruction to Deconstructable: A Florida House Rebuilt for Reuse and High Performance

  • Build Reuse c/o Construction Junction 214 N. Lexington Street Pittsburgh United States (map)

This webinar follows the transformation of an existing Florida house through partial deconstruction, retention of the existing slab and masonry walls, extensive use of reclaimed materials, and design choices intended to support future adaptation and deconstruction. The presentation tells the story behind the project’s decisions, from salvage and material selection to energy efficiency, moisture control, durability, and building science performance. It also highlights broader green-building outcomes, including a Home Energy Rating System (HERS) score of 44 and Florida Green Building Coalition Platinum certification, showing how a reuse-centered project can also achieve strong whole-house performance.
